Production Steps of Activated Carbon

1. Raw Material Selection

Choose carbon-rich materials such as coconut shells, wood, coal, or nut shell.
Raw materials are crushed and screened to achieve uniform particle size.

2. Carbonization

Heat the raw materials to 400-700°C in an oxygen-limited environment to remove volatile compounds and moisture.
This process forms carbonized char with preliminary porosity.

3. Activation

Physical Activation: Use steam or CO₂ at high temperatures (800-1100°C) to expand pores and create a microporous structure.
Chemical Activation: Impregnate with chemicals (e.g., phosphoric acid or zinc chloride) followed by heating to enhance pore development.

4. Washing and Purification

Remove residual chemicals and ash through acid/water washing (for chemically activated carbon).
Adjust pH to neutral and reduce impurity content.

5. Drying
· Dry the activated carbon to reduce moisture content to below 5% using rotary dryers or ovens.

6. Screening and Grading

Sieve the product into standardized particle sizes (e.g., granular, powdered, or pelleted forms).
Classify based on adsorption performance indicators (e.g., iodine value, hardness).

7. Packaging

Package in sealed, moisture-proof bags to preserve adsorption activity.
Label specifications (type, iodine value, moisture, ash content) for commercial distribution.
